Tasting notes

Château Nénin is one of those hidden gems from the Pomerol region in Bordeaux, crafted with care by the Delon family. It primarily features Merlot, blended with Cabernet Sauvignon, and this 2001 vintage is particularly celebrated. After 25 years of aging, it's really the perfect time to open it.

In volume 14, this wine makes an appearance as the one Fujieda chooses to serve, turning memories of love into something tangible. You can imagine the thought behind selecting such a special bottle. There's something about the depth of this wine that really speaks to the heart.

When you pour it, you'll notice the deep garnet color with a touch of brick on the rim. Take a sniff, and the aromas of ripe blackberries, dried plums, and hints of dried herbs fill the air, with a subtle hint of tea and tobacco. It’s like a symphony of complex scents that evolved over time.

On the palate, there's a rich burst of fruit first, supported by a lively acidity. The tannins are dense yet silky, giving it a smooth texture. The finish is long, leaving those flavors lingering on your tongue. If you're opening it, I'd suggest using a larger glass to really let it breathe and reveal all its layers.
