Tasting notes
Roc de Cambes 1998 is a Bordeaux red that's got so much character to it. It's mainly Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, and with 28 years of aging, it's really showing its depth. It's got that Bordeaux tradition but with a unique twist that makes it special.
In 'Kami no Shizuku' volume 14, this wine makes an appearance when Shizuku Kanzaki shares it with Akane Fujita. They paired it with roasted lamb, Madeira sauce, and almond potato gratin. The combination of the robust meat dishes and this wine was just perfect.
When you pour it into a glass, you'll notice it's got a settled garnet color with a hint of brick at the rim. The aromas are open and welcoming, with blackcurrant and black cherry, along with a touch of dried herbs. There's also an undercurrent of sous bois and tea notes, which makes just the aroma a delight.
Take a sip, and you'll feel the lively acidity and dense tannins wrapping around your tongue. There's a rich fruitiness balanced with a certain strength. The finish is long, letting you savor it leisurely. I'd suggest serving it in a larger glass and letting it breathe a bit to fully enjoy its complexity.
