Tasting notes
You know, Emmanuel Rouget's Bourgogne Rouge 2007 is quite something. His wines stand out among the Burgundy Pinot Noirs for their expression of the vineyard. This particular one is 100% Pinot Noir and really captures the essence of the Burgundy terroir.
In Volume 33, there's a scene where Emmanuel Rouget himself presents this wine, and the characters are just in awe of its aroma and taste. It's an important moment that allows them to truly experience the depth of wine and the charm of Burgundy firsthand.
Pour a glass of this, and you'll notice the garnet color with a hint of brick—it's got just the right viscosity. The aroma is a lovely mix of ripe blueberries and raspberries with a touch of violet flowers. As it opens up, you'll find notes of tea and dried herbs that come through thanks to its age, making the bouquet complex and deep.
On the palate, it's silky smooth. The acidity has a lively kick, and the tannins feel velvety. Everything's nicely balanced, and the finish is somewhat long. This wine is elegant with a solid structure. I’d say enjoy it around 18°C, in a slightly larger glass to really appreciate its nuances.
