- The wine the man sitting next to Shizuku and others at Monopole was drinking. It evokes an old Japanese house, a bank with blooming dandelions, a gently flowing stream, and a slightly seductive lady in a kimono walking with a fukusa, under a warm sky with beautiful white clouds, like a May sky.

Tasting notes
From Obuse Winery, this Domaine Sogga Bio Levain Naturel Cabernet Sauvignon Premier showcases the cool climate of Nagano in a compelling red wine. The 2008 vintage, predominantly using Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, is crafted with a natural approach to winemaking. When you open it, you can really feel the power of nature captured in the bottle.
In Volume 35 of the manga, it appears as the choice of a man sitting next to Shizuku and his friends at a traditional Japanese house. Surrounded by blooming dandelions and a serene stream, the scene evokes the tranquility of early summer. A woman in traditional kimono walks gracefully, adding to the picturesque May sky.
Pouring it into a glass reveals a deep garnet hue, with a tinge of orange at the rim, indicating its maturation. The aroma is rich with dried plums and cassis, laced with a hint of cedar, adding complexity. On the palate, the attack is gentle, with a generous spread of fruit sweetness. Its acidity is smooth, bringing balance to the overall profile.
The tannins are velvety, reminiscent of a fine velvet texture, with a finish that's moderately long. Overall, the wine comes across as elegant and composed. You could decant it for more depth, but it's beautifully enjoyable as it is. It's a taste of Nagano's nature in a glass—definitely worth trying.
