Tasting notes

Bruno Colin's Chassagne-Montrachet from 2009 is something special you know. It's pure Chardonnay from Burgundy, especially from the Côte de Beaune, and Bruno takes great care to reflect the terroir in his wines. His family-run domaine has been doing this for years, and it shows in each bottle.

In volume 35, during a face-off at Maison de Grand Cru, this wine was chosen as the second bottle. It was described as being like ski tracks in fresh snow—delicate yet confidently present. Just by looking at it, you can see the deep lemon yellow color hinting at its maturity.

The nose is complex, offering ripe pear and toasted almond aromas, with a subtle vanilla whisper from the oak influence. On the palate, it's smooth, with rich fruit flavors unfolding. The acidity is gentle, underpinned by a solid mineral backbone, showing an elegant balance throughout.

The finish is long, with lingering notes of nuts and butter. It's best served not too cold, around 10-12°C, to fully enjoy its nuanced character. This wine lets you appreciate the multifaceted allure of Burgundy Chardonnay all over again.
