Tasting notes

You know Romanée-Conti, right? It's one of those special wines from Domaine de la Romanée-Conti in Burgundy. Made entirely from Pinot Noir, and with only 1.8 hectares of vineyard, each vintage is like a treasure. The 1985 vintage is particularly cherished, and opening it is like stepping into a special moment.

In volume 9 of 'The Drops of God', there's a scene where this wine is found resting in a cellar. Even critic Robert Parker Jr. has praised it as a masterpiece, saying there's no wine greater than this. Remembering that scene, it feels like this wine holds a narrative, not just a taste.

Pour a glass and take a look. It has a beautiful matured brick color with a hint of orange at the rim. When you take a sniff, the aromas of tea, mushrooms, and sous-bois draw you in with their depth. On the palate, there's a mellow richness of fruit, with lively yet rounded acidity. The tannins are velvety smooth, balancing everything perfectly.

The finish is really long, with complexity lingering on and on. When you open a bottle like this, you want to take your time savoring it. A medium-sized glass at a slightly cooler 14–16℃ will bring out the best in this wine.
