Tasting notes
Henri Jayer's Vosne-Romanée Cros Parantoux is really something special. It's made from 100% Pinot Noir from Burgundy, and this tiny vineyard he cultivated has become legendary among wine lovers. The 1999 vintage is particularly outstanding, and with 27 years of aging, it's just at its prime now.
Remember in Volume 1 of "Drops of God" when Miyabi accidentally broke this wine? That scene was so tense, right? Breaking a wine like this is a big deal, but in a way, it shows just how special it is.
Pouring this wine into a glass reveals a beautiful color—slightly orange on the rim, hinting at its 27 years of aging. The aromas are open, with sweet black cherry and raspberry notes wafting up. You'll also catch hints of tea and dried herbs in the bouquet.
Taking a sip, the velvety tannins are the first thing that stands out, spreading across your tongue like velvet, with a burst of fruit sweetness. The acidity is smooth, and the overall balance is truly remarkable. The finish is long, with lingering nuances of truffle and earthiness. This is what tasting the essence of Burgundy feels like.
