Tasting notes

Michel & Patrice Rion crafted this Chambolle-Musigny Premier Cru Les Charmes from a spot in Burgundy that's renowned for its elegant Pinot Noirs. This 2001 vintage is just at the sweet spot of its drinking window, and it's something special worth opening.

In the 5th volume of "The Drops of God," this wine makes an appearance when Shizuku serves it to a female guest at Mishima's store. The scene captures a wine with a firm mineral backbone and a rich, fruity character. It's the kind of description that just makes you want to pour a glass right away.

Pouring it into the glass, you see a beautiful brick-red hue with just a hint of orange at the rim. Sniffing it, you get this lovely mix of black cherry and raspberry aromas. But there's more—some subtle spice and earthiness that give it a depth to savor.

Take a sip, and you find the gentle fruit sweetness immediately. It's backed by a lively acidity that keeps things fresh. The tannins are velvety, melting seamlessly on your palate. The finish is long, leaving a lingering mineral note that just makes you want to go back for another sip.
