Tasting notes
You know, when you hear Château de Reignac, you expect something special. This Cuvée Spéciale from 2001 is a Bordeaux red, mainly Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. It's got a reputation that rivals grand vins, so it's the kind of bottle you'd want to open on a special occasion.
This wine made an appearance in volume 21 of 'Drops of God'. Yves Vatelot, the owner, was shown smiling gently in front of a church altar, like a groom waiting for his bride. The elegance of Bordeaux's terroir really evokes that image.
In the glass, it's a deep garnet with a slight orange hue at the rim. On the nose, you get ripe cassis and black cherry aromas, with hints of dried herbs and old wood. When you taste it, there's a rich fruitiness and a smooth acidity. The tannins are dense, and the finish lingers long. It's not just any Bordeaux, it's something special.
